Materials We Use
Just like most things in life you need quality ingredients for a quality product. We have experimented, researched, and found materials that are sourced as locally to Maine as possible and that are produced from reputable and responsible companies.
Leather
We use full grain bridle leather from Wickett & Craig and Pueblo leather from Badalassi Carlo tannery in Toscana, Italy. Each tannery brings their own strengths to the table and by using both we are able to deliver exceptional quality products.
Wickett & Craig bridle leather is tanned in Pennsylvania from ethically sourced hides. This traditional bridle leather is vegetable-tanned and stuffed with waxes and oils which gives it a classic look and buttery smooth feel.
Pueblo is a supple vegetable-tanned leather with a stone-brushed finished that creates a rustic surface texture. It's available in an array of vivid colors which are dyed completely through. Pueblo leather has an incredible amount of character and a texture you have to feel to believe.
Thread
We use waxed threads from our neighbors at Maine Thread Company. They manufacture their round-wound polycord in Lewiston, Maine in an array of beautiful colors. The wax-impregnated thread allows us to provide you with a clean and smooth stitch that locks in place and won't unravel in the unlikely event that the thread were to break. We do also stock a few popular colors of Ritza Tiger thread that is available for custom orders
Custom orders and limited materials
With the custom nature of our products we are willing to search for the perfect material for your design if we don't have it on hand already. Please be aware that it may add extra time to your order if we don't have the requested materials on hand.
